SITUATION

Glover Construction was asked to be the grading and storm drainage subcontractors for the 10-mile bypass design build project, the only interstate method of transportation into Raleigh for those living in eastern Wake County, Greenville, and North/Central Eastern NC.

In 2018, the Knightdale Bypass, now known as I-495/64, had an “Average Annual Daily Traffic” County of 82,500 vehicles per NCDOT statistics. This is double the traffic from the project’s completion in 2005 (41,000).

The Town of Knightdale’s population tripled in the same time period.

SOLUTION

Glover Construction moved more than 3.7 million cubic yards to create the 10-mile Knightdale Bypass in Wake County, NC for the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT).
