SITUATION
Glover Construction was selected for the construction of a new 5,000-linear-foot airport runway and taxiway for the Franklin County Airport.
The project consisted of site clearing, 1.1 million cubic yards of earthwork, storm drainage system installation, erosion control, site seeding, and runway and taxiway grading prior to paving.
SOLUTION
We used a fleet of tractor trailers with bottom-dumps, a 245 excavator and blasted rock.
OUTCOME
- Completed in 12 months.
- The airport is home to more than 75 tenants, including on-site businesses that provide maintenance, flying lessons and other services. It serves both general aviation and military clientele.
- Traffic per year is approximately 62,800, which includes general aviation passengers and itinerant.
